The Illumina test is a simple blood test to analyse cell free DNA, and it gives a strong indication of whether your baby is at high or low chance of having certain genetic conditions and chromosome abnormalities.

The non-invasive prenatal test identifies 99% (but not all) of the babies with trisomy 21, 98% of babies with trisomy 18 and 90% of babies with trisomy 13.
Please note, you should have had a scan to check the pregnancy is viable before attending the appointment.
We do not have scanning facilities.
Suitable single and twin pregnancies and whether you conceived naturally or through fertility treatments.
You should not have the test if:

you have cancer, or if you have chromosomal abnormalities including Trisomy 13, 18 and 21

you are carrying more than two babies
-
you have an autoimmune disease
-
you have neoplasm (benign and malignant)
-
in the last 12 months you have had an organ transplant, received stem cell therapy or immunotherapy
-
you have a pregnancy with foetal demise/vanishing twin
-
in the last 3 months you have had a blood transfusion
-
there is a fetoplacental mosaicism/confined placental mosaicism
Patients with a twin pregnancy are not eligible for the sex chromosome aneuploidy component of the screen.
